Privacy policy

Last updated: December 11, 2024

Here we lay out our rules for gathering, using and disclosing your information while you are on the Service, plus the privacy rights you hold and the legal protection behind them.

We need your Personal Data to deliver and improve the Service. Your use of the Service signals consent to the collection and use of information this Privacy Policy describes.

Interpretation and Definitions

Interpretation

Each term written with an initial capital has the specific meaning set out below. Singular or plural, each definition reads the same.

Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

  • Account is your own unique account, giving you access to the Service in full or in part.

  • Affiliate means a company tied to a party through control, in either direction or through a shared parent. Owning 50% or more of the stock, equity interest or other securities that carry votes for the board or other management counts as control.

  • Company (referred to as either “the Company”, “We”, “Us” or “Our” in this Agreement) refers to BostonToSDmove, 456 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116.

  • Cookies are bits of data a website writes to the computer, mobile or other device you browse on. They serve many purposes, including keeping a record of your browsing history on that website.

  • Country refers to: United States

  • Device is any equipment, like a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet, that can reach the Service.

  • Personal Data covers any details tied to a specific, identifiable person.

  • Service refers to the Website.

  • Service Provider is an individual or a legal entity that works with data for the Company. In practice, these are third-party businesses and people the Company engages to support the Service, deliver it in the Company’s place, carry out related tasks, or measure how visitors use it.

  • Usage Data is data the Service records by itself, whether from your visit or from its own infrastructure, such as the time you spend on a page.

  • Website refers to BostonToSDmove, accessible from [domain]

  • You is the person accessing the Service. When someone does so for a company or other legal entity, You covers that entity too.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

Some parts of the Service may ask for personally identifiable information, the kind of data that tells us who you are or how to reach you. This can include the following, among other things:

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Usage Data

Usage Data

The Service gathers Usage Data automatically.

It may record which Service pages you open and how long you stay on each, when you came by, what browser you use and its version, your Device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, unique device identifiers and other technical diagnostics.

If you reach the Service from a mobile device, some details are gathered automatically as well, for example the kind of device and its unique ID, its IP address, which mobile operating system and Internet browser it runs, other unique identifiers and similar diagnostic information.

Information your browser passes along on each visit, mobile or not, may also end up with us.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

Cookies and other trackers record what happens on the Service and keep some information. The data is collected and traced through beacons, tags and scripts, and we analyze it to improve the Service. We may use:

  • Cookies (Browser Cookies). These are small files stored on your Device. Your browser settings let you block every Cookie or get a warning each time one is sent. Blocking them may lock you out of some parts of the Service. The Service may use Cookies unless you have changed your browser so it turns them down.
  • Web Beacons. A web beacon (also called a clear gif, pixel tag or single-pixel gif) is a tiny electronic file that may sit in some of our emails and parts of the Service. It lets the Company count who opened an email or visited a page, compile related statistics such as which section draws the most interest, and check the integrity of our systems and servers.

There are two types of Cookies. “Persistent” ones survive on your personal computer or mobile device while you are offline, and “Session” ones are cleared when you close your web browser.

Here is what we use each of the two types for:

  • Necessary / Essential Cookies

    Type: Session Cookies

    Administered by: Us

Purpose: The Website needs these Cookies to give you its services and to let you use certain features. They verify a user’s identity and block fraudulent use of accounts. The services you request could not be delivered without them, and delivering those services is all we use them for.

  • Cookies Policy / Notice Acceptance Cookies

    Type: Persistent Cookies

    Administered by: Us

Purpose: These Cookies tell us whether each user accepted cookies on the Website or not.

  • Functionality Cookies

    Type: Persistent Cookies

    Administered by: Us

Purpose: When you choose a language or have the Website keep your login details, these Cookies remember that choice. The aim is a more personal experience, without you having to re-enter preferences on every visit.

Details on which cookies we set and how you can control them are in our Cookies Policy and in the Cookies section of this Privacy Policy.

Use of Your Personal Data

We may put Personal Data to work for these purposes:

  • To deliver and maintain the Service, and to watch how it gets used.

  • Managing Your Account: running your user registration on the Service. Once registered, you can reach the various functions of the Service through the Personal Data you provided.

  • To perform a contract: setting up, carrying out and complying with the agreement when you buy products, items or services, or sign any other contract with Us through the Service.

  • To contact You: by email, phone call, text message (SMS) or another electronic channel like an app’s push notification, when needed or reasonable, to keep you posted on updates (security ones too) and on the features, products or services you signed up for.

  • To tell You about news and special offers, and to share general information on other goods, services and events of ours close to what you bought or asked about before, as long as you have not opted out.

  • Handling Your requests: dealing with whatever you bring to Us.

  • For business transfers: Personal Data about Service users can be among the assets that move when some or all of Our assets are sold or transferred, whether in a restructuring, dissolution, merger, divestiture or reorganization, as a going concern, or through bankruptcy, liquidation or a similar proceeding. We may use your information to weigh up or complete such a deal.

  • For other purposes: we also analyze data, follow usage trends, test how well our promotional campaigns perform, and find what to improve in the Service, in our products, services and marketing, and in your experience.

Your personal information may be shared:

  • With Service Providers: these providers receive it to measure and study activity on the Service and to reach you.
  • For business transfers: if Our business is merged, financed, sold in whole or in part to another company, or its assets are sold, your personal information may be transferred with it, including during the negotiations.
  • With Affiliates: they are bound to honor this Privacy Policy when they receive your information. The term takes in Our parent company and any other subsidiaries, our joint venture partners, and other companies under Our control or under the same control as Us.
  • With business partners: to let them pitch selected promotions, products or services to you.
  • With other users: personal details you post, or disclose while interacting with others in public areas, are open to every user and can be spread publicly beyond the Service.
  • With Your consent: in other situations, we disclose it only if you approve.

Retention of Your Personal Data

We hold on to Personal Data for as long as the purposes described in this Privacy Policy need it, and no longer. Beyond that, we keep and use it only as far as necessary to meet our legal obligations, for instance where applicable law says we must store it, to settle disputes, and to enforce our agreements and policies.

For internal analysis, the Company keeps Usage Data too, though usually not as long. The exceptions are data used to tighten the Service’s security or improve how it functions, and data the law obliges us to keep for a longer period.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

We handle your information, and Personal Data in particular, at the Company’s operating offices and at any other site where the parties taking part in the processing work. As a result, it may be moved to computers in another country, state, province or other governmental jurisdiction and kept there, under data protection laws that may not match the ones where you live.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by Your submission of such information represents Your agreement to that transfer.

Reasonable steps are taken to protect your data and to treat it in line with this Privacy Policy. No organization or country receives your Personal Data unless adequate controls, including protection of your data and other personal information, are in place there.

Delete Your Personal Data

It is your right to remove Personal Data we have collected on you, or to ask for our help in removing it.

The Service may let you delete some information about you on your own.

Signed in to Your Account, if you have one, you can open its settings section and update, amend or delete your personal information whenever you wish. Or reach out to Us with a request to access, correct or delete personal information you submitted.

Some information may still have to stay on file when a legal obligation or lawful basis calls for it.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

In a merger, acquisition or sale of assets involving the Company, your Personal Data could be transferred. You will be notified before that happens and before your data falls under another Privacy Policy.

Law enforcement

There are cases where we must hand over your Personal Data, namely when required by law or when a public authority (a court or a government agency, for example) sends us a valid request.

Other legal requirements

Disclosure of Personal Data may also happen when we believe in good faith that it is needed to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of the Company
  • Prevent or examine potential wrongdoing connected with the Service
  • Guard the personal safety of the public or of Service users
  • Protect against legal liability

Security of Your Personal Data

We take the protection of your Personal Data seriously. But nothing sent across the Internet or held in electronic form is ever 100% secure. We protect it by commercially acceptable means, which still fall short of a guarantee of absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not aimed at anyone younger than 13, and we never knowingly gather data that could identify a child of that age. Parents and guardians aware that a child has shared Personal Data with Us should get in touch. When We discover Personal Data from a child under 13 collected without verified parental consent, We work to remove it from Our servers.

Where we process your information on the legal basis of consent, and your country requires a parent to give that consent, we may ask for your parent’s approval before we collect and use it.

Links to Other Websites

The Service may link out to websites that someone other than Us operates. A click on such a third-party link opens that party’s site, and we strongly recommend going through each such site’s own Privacy Policy.

Outside sites and services decide their own content, privacy policies and practices, which we neither control nor take responsibility for.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy gets updated occasionally, and when it does, the updated text appears on this page.

Before it applies, any change will be announced by email and/or by a clearly visible notice on the Service, and the top of this Privacy Policy will show a new “Last updated” date.

We suggest rereading this Privacy Policy now and then to catch any updates. A change takes effect once it is published on this page.
